In 1932 Miss Phoebe Sorel, a US citizen, shot herself on board the SS Asturias.  She had pursued an officer of the ship who did not return her affections, and tried to take her life.  She was taken to hospital seriously injured and died in a nursing home in the UK shortly thereafter.

Her great-nephew, Chris Reed, is researching her story and has supplied the following news clippings. Please let us know if you know more of her story.
